Golf
is the obvious
sport in Scotland and there are some truly
wonderful options in the Banchory and Aberdeen area. Inchmarlo golf
course is a particular favourite amongst
hotel guests and the Raemoir hotel is fortunate
to have a good relationship with them to
the benefit of our visitors.
Winter country sporting opportunities are
many and varied thanks to our landlords,
Dunecht estate. We are particularly spoilt
in the Deeside area with two of the finest
Salmon and trout rivers in Scotland the
Dee and the Don.
Fishing:
Royal Deeside is one of the most famous
areas in Scotland for fishing, and Banchory
sits directly on the River Dee. If you
are interested in fly fishing for wild
salmon on the Dee please visit
www.fishdee.co.uk . For trout
fishing with fly or bait, we can recommend
the Raemoir Trout Fishery which is just 1/2
mile from the hotel. Their website

Shooting: Shooting can be bought
directly through the hotel. Each year
the hotel offers 8 days of 8 guns from mid
October through to 31st January. Days
begin at the hotel at 9am with all the guns
and guests gathering in the private sitting
room for coffee, bacon rolls and sloe gin.
At 9.30 the shoot moves off for the first
drive. Lunch is provided back at the
hotel and depending on daylight and weather
conditions there is often an option of duck
flighting on a lochan on the Hill of Fare,
the hill that rises behind the hotel.
The scenery throughout the day is
magnificent and the good sport reflects the
careful shoot management that goes on all
year round. David Webster personally
arranges the shoots and he can be contacted
on 01307 840340, at our sister hotel,
Castleton House Hotel, or email

Edwin Landseer famous as the artist of ‘Monach
of the Glen’. This is
professionally managed by Dunecht Estate,
please telephone 01330 860 223, for further
information and mention that you wish to
stay at The Raemoir.

Braemar, both sites offer training and
equipment hire.
