Raemoir House Hotel in the snow

“As regular clients of Raemoir we have found it to be one of the very few places in the North East able to provide an exclusive venue opportunity at the same time offering a genuine Country House setting and experience. It’s hard to beat the seclusion, privacy and indulgence.”

The Local Area

The magic of Royal Deeside and the inland areas of Strathdon and Speyside epitomise the beauty of Highland Scotland with its stunning scenery and rich history and heritage. Raemoir House Hotel is perfectly placed as a base from which a wide area can be covered in a day, taking in the marvellous rivers, the largest number of castles in one region anywhere in the UK and, of course, a plethora of world-renowned distilleries.

Crathes Castle is within a few miles but we strongly recommend you explore the entire Deeside area as it has lots to offer, there are many castles in the area. Why not follow the Visit Scotlands Castle Trail.

Scotland is the home of golf and there are some truly wonderful opportunities to participate in the sport in Aberdeenshire area. You can visit Golfers Scotland for information on local golf resorts.

If you are in need of some warming up before your round then there is ample space for short-game practice on the front lawn and we are looking at the possibility of a putting green next to the front door!

Field Sports

Winter country sporting opportunities are many and varied thanks to the surrounding Dunecht Estate. We are particularly spoilt in the Deeside area with two of the finest salmon and trout rivers in Scotland, the Dee and the Don.

Royal Deeside is one of the most famous areas in Scotland for fishing, and Banchory, a short distance from the hotel, sits directly on the River Dee. If you are interested in fly fishing for wild salmon on the Dee please visit the Fish Dee website. For trout fishing with fly or bait, we can recommend the Raemoir Trout Fishery which is just a half mile from the hotel.

The area offers world famous stalking grounds, the very landscape depicted by Sir Edwin Landseer famous as the artist of ‘Monarch of the Glen’. Stalking is professionally managed by Dunecht Estate, please telephone 01330 860 223 for further information and mention that you wish to stay at Raemoir. .

Two ski centres are available in the area, The Lecht near Strathdon and Glenshee at Braemar, both sites offering training and equipment hire.

Other sports in the area include

Pony trekking, archery, canoeing, mountain biking, orienteering, hill walking, gliding, snowboarding, quad biking, clay shooting, off road driving, tank driving and go-karting.
